SINGER LEONA LEWIS is on crutches after falling from her horse.

The 24-year-old star needed hospital treatment for suspected torn leg ligaments after the accident in Los Angeles.

She was seen yesterday hobbling near her home.

A source said: “Leona was riding the day before New Year’s Eve and fell off when the horse started galloping too fast.

“She went to accident and emergency. It was pretty scary. She had quite a tumble.

“But it hasn’t put her off riding. She’s fine and will be back on her horse soon.”

Leona didn’t let the accident ruin her New Year celebrations.

She partied at a bash in Las Vegas’s Bellagio hotel hosted by US singer ROBIN THICKE.

After spending the Christmas holiday back home in London, Leona Lewis was spotted touching down at LAX Airport in Los Angeles on Saturday night (December 26).

Joined by her boyfriend, Lou Al-Chamaa, the “Bleeding Love” babe was whisked out of the airport by a bodyguard – offering up a sweet smile as she got into an awaiting limo.

Meanwhile, we’re just three weeks away from the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony – during which Miss Lewis finds herself among the nominees.

The 24-year-old is up for Best Original Song for the theme tune to Avatar, “I See You,” which she recorded after being personally sought out by the movie’s director, James Cameron.

Talking about holding true to her ways despite the growing successes, Leona recently told press: “I’ve matured, which just comes with getting older and growing up, but still I’m very much the same. A bit wiser and that’s about it.”

NO ONE can accuse LEONA LEWIS of not taking her work seriously.
But this time she’s taken things to another dimension altogether.

The singer has recorded the epic theme song I See You for director JAMES CAMERON’s brilliant new sci-fi movie Avatar.

In doing so, she is following in the footsteps of her idol CELINE DION – who sang My Heart Will Go On, the signature tune to Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster Titanic.

Leona is so fascinated by the themes of Avatar that she now believes aliens will one day live here because humans have ruined Earth.

She told me: “We’ve done so much damage I worry the world will have to end and start again.

“It will be the next people who occupy the planet who will learn from our mistakes.

“People are too selfish to stop the things that have caused global warming now.

“But the universe is too big for us to be the only life forms.”

Avatar is about former Marine Jake Sully who is selected to travel to gorgeous planet Pandora.

There he meets the Na’vi – a race of 10ft blue folk who live in harmony with their world.

Leona was so enchanted by the tale she’s hoping it comes true – and would like to meet the Na’vi.

The singer, mocked up as one of the creatures by my graphic wizards, said: “I hope aliens are like the Na’vi. I really like them.

“They care about the things I’m passionate about – nature, the planet, the environment.

“This song required a powerful performance so I had to find an emotional connection. I found one to them.” Leona recorded the song a few months ago in London after being invited to watch Avatar being made by Cameron who used the latest techniques in computer-generated imagery.

She said: “I was a huge fan of Titanic and went to see it three times. And I won my first ever talent show aged 13 singing My Heart Will Go On.

“It was amazing to watch him work and see how the film was made. The actors all had helmets with cameras attached to capture their movements.”

I saw the film this weekend and it definitely lives up to the hype. Even if it won’t, ever, come true.

Stunning California Compound!…Security & Seclusion in a Private Gated Community! Designer Courtyard Entry has 4 bedroom Main House with Incredible High Ceilings, Exquisite Tuscan Details & Amazing Family rm/Kitchen! Across the Courtyard is a GuestHouse with its own Garage! 4 Separate Outdoor Entertaining Areas: Waterfall, Pool & Spa, Firepit, Garden Walkways, BBQ Kitchen, & Grassy Yard. Parking Galore! The home’s location near the tippy-top of Nichols Canyon, at the tail end of a private and gated street and up a long driveway should provide all the peace, privacy and quiet Miss Lewis might want or need. The unfortunately flesh colored, two-story, neo-contempo-faux-Tuscan compound includes a main house, a detached guest house, garaging for 3 cars and parking for 10 more. As we would have predicted, the very beige eat-in kitchen has a chandelier over the breakfast table and a damn pot rack looming dangerously over the work island. A nearby family room has wood floors, off-center French doors that open to the back yard, a corner fireplace and more of that dining room molding. Upstairs, the master bedroom has been fitted with wall to wall carpeting in the lightest of beige colors that blends almost seamlessly to the eggshell white walls. French doors open to a private terrace overlooking the back yard and there is another corner fireplace, the second of three on the property.

A look behind the making of Leona Lewis’ music video in support of her single “I See You” is offered. Jake Nava is seen sitting on the directing seat. While Leona tells about what the song is all about, the director opts to share his vision about the concept of the video.

“I See You” is confirmed to be played during the closing credit of James Cameron’s upcoming big screen project “Avatar”. It comes from the production hands of James Horner and Simon Frangle, the masterminds behind Celine Dion’s Grammy-winning single “My Heart Will Go On” from movie “Titanic”.

The rest of the materials in the film’s soundtrack album are composed by James Horner. The compilation is plotted to be put out for U.S. purchase on December 15, while the film starring Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana is due to open wide in theaters on December 18.

Leona Lewis has been offered an astonishing £1 million to pose nude by US men’s magazine Playboy. The singer, who is bidding for her fourth No1 on Sunday with latest release Happy, formally received the seven-figure contract offer earlier this week.

Last night, a close friend revealed: ‘Playboy think Leona would make a real statement for them as a magazine, and show they remain relevant in the modern world. ‘They are prepared to pay through the nose to sign up Leona. Ms Lewis – who sang at the Children In Need concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Thursday evening – rose to fame in 2007 when she won the X Factor.

Bizarrely, last month, X Factor judge Dannii Minogue told how she had decided to pose for a Playboy front cover shoot 14 years ago. She admitted she had decided to strip to pay off crippling debts – but she insisted she had no regrets over her decision. At the time, Ms Minogue owed more than £150,000 but she was too proud to turn to her older sister Kylie for help. Ms Minogue made her confession in an interview with Piers Morgan for his ITV chat-show. She admitted: ‘I don’t regret it, but I feel relieved that people know why I did it – it’s a huge weight off my shoulders. ‘It was actually fun and I did feel liberated. I looked at the pictures and thought, “I look all right!” ‘My girlfriends went out to buy it and told me I looked beautiful. It then felt like a celebration of me.’ The magazine is now 56 years old but still sells more than 2.5 million copies in the US alone.

Friends say Leona is ‘too shy’ for such a provocative shoot

Other celebrities to have stripped off for the magazine in the past include actresses Denise Richards, Drew Barrymore and Kim Basinger plus singer LaToya Jackson. But last night, it seemed Leona would not be the latest celebrity to decide the financial lure from Playboy owner Hugh Hefner was just too much. A friend added: ‘There is no way Leona will strip however much they offer. For starters, she is just far too shy.’ Last night, a spokesperson for Ms Lewis said: ‘We have no comment on this.’

LEONA Lewis is set to be rewarded with an Oscar nomination by Hollywood.

Leona Lewis has two soundtrack tunes in the running for the Best Original Song category.

Current single Happy is used in new Oprah Winfrey-produced feelgood movie Precious.

It tells the story of an overweight, illiterate teen who hopes for a better life in an alternative school.

Leona, 24, said of the song: “I’m just so proud of it cos I wrote it, and to be associated with a film like Precious, which is about trying to overcome troubles and trials in your life.

“I’m glad that someone got that message.”

Also tipped for an Oscar nod is Leona’s I See You, which features in Titanic director James Cameron’s new sci-fi adventure Avatar.

“I only saw a half-hour clip of the film,” said Leona. “It’s not finished yet, and it’s insane, awesome. I heard the song – great lyrics, very, very epic.

“So I went in and I did it. And then they played it to James and he phoned me up and said: ‘Oh, my God. I love you!’ He’s so cool.

“I had this perception that he was going to be totally untouchable and unreach-able. But he’s just like your nice uncle. He’s lovely.”

Leona could perform both songs at the Academy Awards bash in Tinseltown next March.

But the Hackney angel has no plans to turn to acting just yet, although cinema has influenced her forthcoming world tour.

She revealed: “I love movies but I’m more into scriptwriting and the actual story and behind the scenes.

“But I wouldn’t say no if it was the right thing.”
